Ten years ago, I wanted to find a gift for my girlfriend (now my wife) .
I had absolutely no idea what to get her. Being a typical straight guy, I ended up googling “the best gifts for girlfriends.”
After scrolling for what felt like forever, I finally picked a USB drive that could expand her phone’s storage —because her phone always ran out of space.
something like that……
I was quite proud of myself.
It was useful, practical, even thoughtful… or so I thought.
When she opened it, her eyes welled up — but not from being touched.
She’s someone who appreciates the aesthetic details that make life warm. She thought I had planned something romantic, but instead, she got what she later called “a hard drive with no feelings.”
I still remember her trying to smile,pretending not to be disappointed.Later, she told me she knew she shouldn’t feel upset,but she couldn’t help it.That day, I learned something simple yet profound:
Useful doesn’t always mean meaningful.
Since then, I’ve tried to understand what she truly loves,instead of guessing what she needs.
I discovered that giving a gift is really about getting to know someone deeply.
Every now and then, I’d pick a small, thoughtful gift — nothing fancy or expensive.
She’d always say：
“Don’t waste money. We’re family. It’s the thought that counts.”Those gifts have stayed with us, quietly blending into our everyday life.
Over time, that same thoughtfulness spread to the people around me —My parents, siblings, friends, kids, pets , even the kind strangers who helped me.I’m not good with words,but I always hope they can feel my care.
A gift that’s personal, tasteful, and full of heart —it always brings a smile.
And in that moment, I feel happy too.
Eventually, I started paying more attention to my own feelings as well.The scent in my car, the light on my desk,a patch of sunlight in the garden.
—these became gifts I gave myself.
Sometimes to celebrate progress,sometimes to comfort the tired version of me.
Little by little, friends began asking,
“How do you always find such perfect gifts?”
That’s when I realized — everyone’s the same:

So I had an idea:what if I could create a place —where people could easily find gifts that carry warmth, taste, and meaning?
I spent a year searching, curating cool objects and aesthetic pieces that were playful, honest, and full of stories. Each one reminded me that thoughtfulness over perfection.
Among countless gifts and stories, I found three truths about giving:
1. Someone who truly matters （including yourself）——not because it’s a holiday, but because you care.
2. Meaning that’s yours to share—— something that reflects your relationship and your memories together.
3. A gift that carries your heart —— sometimes words fall short, and the gift speaks for you.
I’ve come to believe that everyone already has the first two — love and stories.
What DumbDumbDelight wants to do is help you find the third:
The little thing that carries your feelings.
The name DumbDumbDelight comes from that awkward version of me —the guy who wasn’t good at expressing himself, but truly wanted to make people happy.
We hope this isn’t just a place to find gifts,but a space to share your stories —the small, clumsy, tender moments of love and surprise.
Because we believe:
being clumsy is fine — being sincere matters more.
Thoughtfulness will always mean more than perfection.
